When Awareness becomes Advocacy

In modern times and times past, we have all  in one way or another tried to tune the minds of people against habits, actions, decisions and so on that we think and  know, have negative effects on the person or the society.

The World Health Organization, Civil Societies, Co-operate bodies Non Governmental organizations all chant in accord for example; the fight against Drug use and it's Abuse, but have we paused to consider the possibility that these modes  of creating awareness actually advertises those actions we speak against to the innocent but curious minds.

We live in the world where there is "no harm in trying", have we thought of its implications when a child wants to experience why he/she is preached against a particular conduct? It is heart-breaking when you come to learn  the tragedies befalling parents and communities when the youth and minors, the hope of our future turns to drugs, gangster-ism, premarital sex and other social vices all because they heard it on the news.

I am in full support when we create the awareness, letting people understand the implications and effects of all these vices but, my concern is - how do we protect the innocent but inquisitive once among us.... they are the most vulnerable.  We have beautiful minds to come up with better ways.
